Dr. Lisa L. Piña

Veterinarian

Dr. Lisa L. Piña is a native Houstonian through and through. Raised in Oak Forest, she moved with her family to Sugar Land, Texas. Her grandparents resided in the Heights and it was considered her second home. She completed dual B.A. degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Saint Thomas. She graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 (whoop!). She has had the fortunate opportunity to be part of the Heights Veterinary Clinic Team for over 10 years. Dr. Pina takes great joy in meeting your new kittens and puppies during their first visits as almost all of her four-legged children (Marlena, Scrappy Coco, Stella Hotsauce, and Raylan Givens) are reaching their senior years in life. Dr. Pina and her husband have two boys, Xavier Major (aka Chuy), and Xoaquin Alfonso. You’ll occasionally see Chuy and Xoaquin in the lobby sneaking a quick visit with Dr. Mom after school or greeting your family pets. Dr. Pina and her family reside in the GO/OF neighborhood; work, home and play are very close to each other so be sure to say hi to them. In her spare time she enjoys fishing on the weekends, watching Chuy play baseball at Oaks Dads’ Club, and experiencing the ever-changing Houston Heights area.

Dr. Morgan Menzie

In 2015, she graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and worked in the Memorial area of Houston before coming to join Heights Veterinary Clinic in 2017. Although she enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Menzie has a special interest in dentistry, dermatology, and surgery. Additionally, as the owner of three rambunctious felines (Daenerys, Leviathan, and Bushmill), she is incredibly passionate about our kitty friends and their health. In her free time, Dr. Menzie volunteers at her church, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. She also enjoys drinking wine with her husband on their patio, reading, watching sports, and traveling.

She completed her undergraduate at Texas A&M in Biomedical Science in December of 2010 and graduated from veterinary school in May 2015 from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a passion for behavior cases in pets but also enjoys surgery. Given that she has past experience with emergency medicine she never shies away from those cases when they come in. She also sees exotics and enjoys working with them. The only two species she does not see are birds and spiders. She has an incredible husband and two four-legged children, Sofia and Odin, who are rescues. Sofia is a lab mix and Odin is a Great Pyrenees mix. She enjoys going hiking, reading, spending time with family, and debating the latest Star Wars/Marvel movie.

He has even been known to conduct tours of historic Heights landmarks on weekends (for a nominal fee).

Dr. Williams retired in 2013. Although he retired physically, his legacy of HVC lives on. Our practice was built on the strong foundation of medicine and family which has continued on just as Dr. Williams left it. He now enjoys his full-time job as Grandpa.

Tori

Lead Surgical Technician

Veterinary medicine runs in Tori’s blood. Born to a practice manager extraordinaire, Tori joined Heights in June of 2018 as a technician. Since then, Tori has shown the same drive and determination instilled in her at an age when she was cleaning kennels next to her mom. Now Tori is one of our lead surgery technicians and gravitates toward every. single. one. of our small dog visitors to either console or cajole them into enjoying their visit. She has her own meeble at home named Lizah and is enjoying being newly married.

Toni

Veterinary Technician

Joined our team in 2020 ready to make the final transition from human medicine to veterinary. Toni has over 20 years of nursing experience, but took a break from that for about 2 years to pursue her other passion in animal care.

Kimberly

Veterinary Technician

Kimberly has been with HVC for over one decade. During the week Kimberly spends her time advocating for human patients and their families at MD Anderson. On Saturdays, Kimberly continues to serve her community by advocating for furry patients and allowing our technicians to take some time off. In case you couldn’t already tell, she has a huge heart and smile. Kimberly has several of her own furbabies: Cinnamon the beagle, Conan the poodle, and Bansky the chihuahua who Kimberly rescued and nursed through heartworm treatment. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys good food, good music, and running.

Outside of work, she is kept busy being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Jessica

Veterinary Technician

Jessica joined our team in 2018 with no previous kennel assistant experience, but eager to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. The misconception that Jessica is shy and quiet is due to her superb work ethic. She is sure to be found cleaning, bathing, assisting others, or attending to a boarding patient when she is at HVC. Jessica works multiple jobs and still manages to come into HVC ready to be a team player and help in any way she can.

Veterinary Technician

Melissa began her career at Heights Veterinary Clinic as an extern from VTI in October 2020 and was hired immediately after graduation as a technician with us. She has become fascinated with surgery and dental procedures and has been growing her skills in this area of our hospital. Melissa’s philosophy every day is to treat each pet like her own, which is probably why we were such a perfect fit for her! She has a red heeler named Max, a whippet/chihuahua named Penny, and an orange tabby named Galaxy.

Cecilia

Client Service Representative

Cecilia came to our practice in January of 2018 with a strong ambition to learn anything and everything about the veterinary industry. Since then she has grown tremendously and plays a pivotal role on our client care team. Her main priority is to ensure that each client feels welcome in our hospital because she knows how important our furry family members are. Cecilia also helps to grow our HVC family by leading by example and training new client service representatives. This has prepared her for her next exciting journey in life, growing a family of her own.

Bree

Client Service Representative

Bree joined us in 2019 after searching for her “forever” veterinary clinic. She’s a mom of two amazing humans and one rambunctious Rottie puppy named Ciara. Just like our patients, Bree is very food motivated and loves to discuss cuisines, recipes, and weird flavor combinations. In her very limited spare time, Bree delves into the world of astrology and embodies all the qualities of a true Cancer (although she has the personality of a Gemini).

Chelsea

Client Service Representative

In 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, we asked Chelsea to join our team as a client service representative. While she didn’t have any veterinary training, she did have extensive experience with customer care and client connection, which is why we knew she would fit in perfectly here. She is a doggie mom to an exuberant Catahoula that was rescued in our lobby and also a very bright 5th grader name Maci who spends her time on the court and field. When Chelsea is not working, she is challenging herself by pursuing a certification in Cosmetology.

Chloe

Animal Care Attendant

In June of 2021, Chloe felt that there was something missing in her life and her daily routine as a kennel technician at a prominent Houston boarding facility. In pursuit of that “something” Chloe applied here at HVC and quickly recognized she was interested in veterinary medicine. While she has only been with us a short time, Chloe has learned many different aspects of care and is continuing to grow in her knowledge. She is our resident sunny smile and will always try to find a way to make her colleagues and clients laugh. She is the proud dog mom of a 2-year-old Pit/Mastiff mix named Bow who tests her patience and sunny smile every day. At night Chloe takes classes with HCC in pursuit of her certified veterinary assistant license.
